Cain & Abel (Getting Passwords of Administrator)
Cain & Abel is one of the 10 best cracking tools used over the world for cracking and sniffing.This Cain & Abel can be used for various types of cracking.Here what we gonna do is that,we will try to get the Administrator passwords of the system.
Till now if you know a lot then you were knowing how to change the Administrator passwords,but not to know what it is.
Here you will see the passwords and later you may change it too.Here it is...
Step 1:Download Cain & Abel from here and install it.
Step 2:Later it will ask for a driver WinPcap so download it too from here.
*You may download AirPcap driver too from here(just click on drop-down menu near Filter by Model) which is required for wireless password sniffing.(remember AirPcap adapter is supported from Winpcap version 4.0)
Step 3:Now run the Cain from your desktop,it'll appear like this after it get opened.

Step 6:Now you will see all the user accounts in your system.Now choose the one of which you need to get the password just as in screenshot:
Step 7:Now i want to get the password of my user "CUTIE!".Now right click on it and select Brute-Force Attack ->NTLM Hashes.Now a new window appear like this:
Here are options like Predefined,custom and Password Length which can be changed as per our choice,If we'll shorten the password length,search will be less time taking.Now click on the start.
Done:Now if all the steps has been done as written,you will see the password as i've seen in my screenshot:

DeleteWhen I hit the blue plus on the APR tab a message pops up stating "you need atleast two hosts to set an APR entry." How do I fix this? I've configured to my router. I'm using wireless; is that the issue?
ReplyDeleteFor what you are asking, first you have to scan for the host (start sniffer,then select sniffer tab and on right side space simply right click and choose scan mac address).

I did all that and all it does is keep scaning for the host ip the numbers just keepgoing up
DeleteIt seems you didn't configure your cain & abel.Once you started, first go to configure and there you will have to set your ip address. Then proceed with the above step.This time host scanning will be done only in to your network rather than scanning whole range of ips. Good Luck!!! @ Justin Holbrook
